Flipping butterfly knives is fun and rewarding, but it can be a little intimidating. That’s where the Lucha – Trainer comes in. A rounded tip and blunt edge eliminate the risk of accidental cuts while performing tricks. Aside from that, this is still the same high-quality Lucha that’s made in the USA. The trainer version was designed to perform as closely to the original Lucha as possible. For instance, the blade tapers so that the top has more weight to pendulum around smoothly. The Lucha - Trainer features dual KVT ball-bearing pivots for extra-easy operation. The handle has a rounded bevel so it rolls effortlessly in the hand. Even the latch is rounded so it never catches as you flip. The latch also features a positive stop so it never contacts the blade. And as an aesthetic touch, the Lucha – Trainer includes diamond-shaped holes in the blade, mirroring the rest of the design. Whether first timers feel more comfortable with a trainer, or an expert is practicing a top-tier trick, the Lucha – Trainer is the safest solution.
When I was a young boy, climbing the hills of Santorini, tending to our flock of sheep, I'd gaze over to my father and would say, "Papa? Will there ever be an exceptional butterfly knife that flips incredibly well, has a skeletonized handle with sandwich construction, and uses dual KVT bearings?"
My father would beam down at me, and tell me the legends of our people; that one day a company would make a butterfly knife for the people. A butterfly knife that would not cause them to cry out in anguish over their tattered wallets, a bali that would not shatter from light use or have pins that fell out. Truly we would be blessed with a bounty from the heavens.
And lo, one day our prayers were answered! Kershaw handed down the 5150 Lucha, and we rejoiced in our good fortune! No longer did we have to subject ourselves to cast metal handles, or horrendously expensive knives. Our children & our children's children would be able to flip and have their souls be at peace!
Unfortunately we were terrible at flipping the butterfly knives and there were many cuts from our sheer clumsiness, and once more we implored for help from above, lest we accidentally injure ourselves in a dreadful manner. And one day, Kershaw provided us with the answer to our prayers: the 5150TR Lucha Trainer!
