MISSION
KNIVES & TOOLS NMS
Non Magnetic Sharpener.
This NonMagnetic diamond
sharpener is ideal for those who do not want any possible magnetic contamination
on the Mission Knives titanium knives when performing sharpening maintenance.
Conic shape and design allows for sharpening of even the smallest serrations.
Plating, not bonding technology ensures that the diamond matrix will not
flake off when exposed to water.

Nothing sharpens a
knife like a diamond sharpener. But, diamond sharpeners have two drawbacks;
- the core of most
diamond shapeners are tool steel, and
- diamonds are adhered
to this substrate via electrolytic-nickel plating.
In other words, it
is possible, and likely that when sharpening, some of this nickel substrate
can be "smeared" onto the knife blade thereby magnetically contaminating
the knife blade.
In order to ensure that "lo-mu" knives stay "lo-mu"
during periodic knife sharpening, non-magnetic diamond sharpener was created
by Mission. This sharpener uses the best industrial diamonds, but plating
is by a prorietary non-magnetic process. No matter how many times you
sharpen any of Mission's titanium knives with the NMS, the titanium knives
will never be magnetically contaminated via the sharpening process.
The Mission NMS diamond
sharpener is designed to be stored in its own holder / grip. When
unscrewed from the grip, turned over and threaded back in with the tip
out, the protective holder serves as the sharpeners grip. When sharpening
is completed, the sharpening section is then reversed into the grip for
protective storage.
Serrations can be
difficult to sharpen without the right tool. The Mission NMS tapered design
and diamond construction is used to easily sharpen both coase and fine
serrations.
